How to get rid of water retention

Excess body water is cause by water retention. What do you know about water retention? Well, water retention is also known as the edema. It is an affection that involves a leakage of water from the blood right into tissues. Under normal circumstances, fluids are drained from body tissues through lymphatic system – a “network” tubes which removes body toxins. You may be suffering from water retention if u face one of the following problems: heavy feeling in the arms, legs and joints, bloating and fatigue. Instead of eating salty you should increase your potassium consumption because it maintains fluid balance in the body and fights again salt retention. What foods can get you more potassium? Food like bananas, sugar beet, potatoes, avocados and spinach.

Increase diuretics consumption in your diet. By doing that you will help your body to get rid of the toxins and to remove excess water through the urinary tract. You might as well consume foods with a high water content like: watermelon, cucumbers, cranberry juice, tomatoes, etc. As an alternative for water are juices or tea: green tea, chamomile tea, cranberry juice, coconut water.

Make sure that your dinner are not fat at least 4 nights a week. You can count on a soup of celery or leek, cucumber salad and cheese, or even a fruit salad – which should not be deprived by kiwi and plums, because these fruits are reliable allies which guarantee satiety and a good intestinal transit.

For an effectively elimination of toxins and excess water you should exercise, at least 30 minutes per day. This way your lymphatic system will be stimulated and the toxins will get out faster. Plus, you will have a tone body. A very important tip is the liquids consumption. You should drink at least 2 liters of water per day to maintain body hydratation on an optimum level.

Another diuretic drink is nettle tea. Take one teaspoon of powdered nettle root and boil it into a vase filled with a cup of water. After you let it steep for 10 minutes, you may drink it. For better results you should drink it 3 times per day, with 1 hour before the main meals. If you are under medication, consult your doctor before you start this tea treatment, because some medicines may interact negatively with this plant.

Very important to know is that water retention may be a side effect caused by a disease. If you feel that you are retaining water, very often, you should go see a doctor because your heart, kidney or liver may be suffering.
